How Amazon Interviews Are Structured

Amazon uses the Bar Raiser process: • 4-6 interviews, each 45-60 minutes • Each interviewer is assigned 2-3 Leadership Principles to assess • One interviewer is the 'Bar Raiser' — they can veto a hire • Every question is behavioral (STAR format expected) • For SDE roles: 2 coding + 1 system design + 1-2 behavioral rounds Format: "Tell me about a time when..." followed by deep-dive follow-ups.
