Infosys InfyTQ is the official skills and assessment platform used for Infosys campus hiring in India. Understanding how InfyTQ works and the difference between the SP (Specialist Programmer) and SE (Systems Engineer) tracks is the starting point for every Infosys aspirant.
SE vs SP: Two Very Different Tracks
Infosys offers two distinct fresher tracks with significantly different salary packages and interview difficulty.
Systems Engineer (SE) track: salary ₹3.6 LPA. Standard selection via aptitude + coding (via InfyTQ). Most campus hires go through this track. Roles: general IT service delivery: development, testing, maintenance. Specialist Programmer (SP) track: salary ₹6.5–9 LPA. Higher eligibility bar (CGPA 8.0+ from NIRF-ranked colleges or premium campuses). Additional rounds: advanced coding test + technical interview. Roles: digital, cloud, AI/ML, and product engineering projects. The SP track requires a fundamentally different preparation level: do not prepare for one track and apply to the other.
InfyTQ Platform and SE Online Test
The InfyTQ SE selection process runs through Infosys's proprietary platform.
InfyTQ registration: create an account on the InfyTQ portal, complete your profile, and take the 'Career Edge' foundation courses: completing them improves your InfyTQ score which is used for initial shortlisting at many campuses. SE Online Test (120 min): Reasoning Ability (15Q): number series, blood relations, logical deductions. Mathematical Ability (10Q): percentage, profit-loss, time-speed. Verbal Ability (20Q): reading comprehension, para jumbles, sentence correction. Coding (2Q, 40 min): easy to medium problems. The coding problems are typically array, string, or basic sorting: similar to Cognizant and Wipro. No negative marking in aptitude sections.
SP (Specialist Programmer) Selection Process
The SP track has an additional stage that requires specific preparation.
SP eligibility: typically CGPA ≥8.0, target engineering colleges (varies by batch). Not all campuses participate in SP recruitment: confirm with your placement office. SP Advanced Coding Test (60 min): 3 problems: easy, medium, and hard. The hard problem is genuinely LeetCode-hard (dynamic programming, graph algorithms). You need to solve at least 2 of 3 fully to advance. SP Technical Interview (30–45 min): Data structures and algorithms in depth, OOP design questions, one system design sketch (for SP candidates with 2+ years or strong projects), and deep project discussion. SP HR Interview: same as SE but with higher compensation negotiation expectations.
Technical Interview Preparation for Infosys
Infosys technical interviews for both SE and SP tracks follow predictable patterns.
SE technical interview topics: OOP (inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation: with Java/Python examples), DBMS (SQL queries, normalisation, ER diagrams), OS (process management, memory management basics), Networking (OSI model, TCP vs UDP, HTTP vs HTTPS). Your final-year project: prepare a 5-minute walkthrough: what problem does it solve, what tech did you use, what was your specific contribution, and what would you change today? SP additional topics: advanced data structures (graphs, heaps, tries), algorithm analysis (time and space complexity), and basic system design ('Design a URL shortener' level).
Infosys Joining and Lex Platform
After selection, Infosys's joining process and training platform are worth knowing about.
Joining timeline: typically 4–8 months after campus offer for June graduates. Joining documentation: offer letter, educational certificates (10th, 12th, UG), PAN card, Aadhar. InfyTQ learning before joining: Infosys asks selected candidates to continue InfyTQ learning modules before the joining date: this affects your initial project allocation. Infosys Lex: the internal learning management system used during and after training. New joiners go through foundation training (ILP: Initial Learning Programme) at Mysuru, Pune, or Chennai for 3–5 months.

Practice freeInfyTQ Certification Scoring and Cutoffs
InfyTQ certifications are scored on a scale of 0 to 100, and Infosys typically considers candidates with a minimum score of 65 in either the Python or Java foundational certification for the SE track shortlisting process. The platform offers free practice tests and mock assessments, and most successful candidates report attempting the certification two or three times before achieving shortlisting scores. Scoring above 80 significantly improves your chances of receiving an interview call within 45 to 60 days of certification completion. Infosys runs InfyTQ drives in batches, usually in January, April, and September, and campus placement drives at partner colleges happen separately through the IFAP portal.
Power Programmer Track: Elite Entry Path
Beyond SE and SP, Infosys introduced the Power Programmer track for candidates from top NITs, IITs, and BITS with a strong competitive programming profile. The starting package for Power Programmers is approximately 11 to 12 LPA as of 2026. The selection process includes a HackerRank assessment with three coding problems to be solved within 90 minutes, targeting dynamic programming, graphs, and segment trees. Candidates invited for Power Programmer roles are typically from CSE, IT, or ECE branches with CGPA above 8.0 and active CodeChef or Codeforces ratings above 1600. This track skips the InfyTQ route entirely and proceeds directly to technical interviews with the engineering leads.
Mysuru Training Campus and Life Post-Joining
All Infosys SE freshers complete a 3 to 5 month residential training at the Mysuru Global Education Center, one of Asia's largest corporate training facilities. The training covers Java, database management, Unix basics, and Agile practices through a structured curriculum called INFY-TQ Bridge. Trainees are assessed through 6 to 8 internal exams and must maintain above 60 percent throughout to confirm placement in a project stream. Failed trainees get one retest opportunity. Upon clearing, Infosys assigns you to a practice unit such as digital, cloud, data, or enterprise application services based on batch performance and business demand. Monthly stipend during training is approximately 15,000 to 18,000 rupees before full salary kicks in.
